The Darien Board of Education will receive a request to ammend the school calendar in order to accommo- date additional time for staff professional development as well as the physical transition back to school. The schedule for the opening of school is provided below and is pending Darien Public Schools Board of Education approval.

The statutory requirement for student school days was reduced from 180 to 177 days to support staff professional development. The District will utilize this time to address professional learning needs related to health and safety, social and emotional learning, technology, special education, equitable instructional prac- tices, and curriculum implementation.
